FAC51 The Hacienda’s events for New Year’s Eve, and its Resident parties have always been unique, and for this New Years Eve, we welcome a host of residents who helped shape the musical direction of The Hacienda, breaking the records that went on to influence dance music worldwide.
The event takes place at Viadux Warehouse, a new intimate warehouse space situated a stone’s throw away from the original club on Whitworth Street West,
The event will see six residents who put together the FAC51’s influences and inspirations over some fifteen years as it enjoyed its centre-point at the heart of Manchester’s music scene. Greg Wilson, the first DJ ever to mix live on TV on Channel 4’s The Tube was Saturday night resident 1983 to 1984. Greg was followed by Chad Jackson, then DMC World Mix Champion as Saturday’s resident from 1985 to 1986.
As acid house took charge of the clubbing scene in the late Eighties, Jon Dasilva ushered in this new era with the revolutionary Hot night, with Graeme Park arriving in August 1988 to share Nude Night duties with Mike Pickering.
As the club reopened in May 1991, Mike and Graeme took charge of Friday and Saturday nights respectively and then added new residents, with Allister Whitehead added to Shine, while Tom Wainwright formed a legendary partnership with Graeme on what became known as “Squiggle”.
About returning to The Hacienda for NYE ‘19/20 to bring in a new decade, Graeme Park commentated “I’m very excited to be bringing in the New Year with the Haçienda this Hogmanay. It’s been years since I DJ’d in Manchester on New Year’s Eve and they were always among the highlights of any year at The Haçienda. This fantastic new venue across the road from the original Haçienda promises to make this an extraordinary event indeed. And it’s across the street from the original Haçienda! What? Yes! Come on then! “
