This week, time to get some winter sun on the island of Abaton, Crete.
Girls’ trip to Abaton Island, Crete
I am writing to you poolside from the luxurious Abaton Island Resort and Spa on the Greek Island of Crete, where I have been spending the week with my friend Larissa Eddie.
Girls trip!! It’s situated 25 minutes away from Heraklion airport and certainly lives up to it’s five-star reputation.

It’s a modern hotel boasting style and super trendy loft-style rooms with private pools, not to mention a fabulous array of restaurants.
If we weren’t relaxing and soaking up the sunshine you could find us exploring the resort and its three main pools as well as taking In the gorgeous gretian mountain views.”
Come Dine With Me
“It was such a pleasure to dine at ‘The Buddha-Bar Beach by Buddha Bar’ which is one of the six restaurants on the Abaton resort.
It boasts a delicious Asian fusion menu. We were warmly greeted by staff and with a tasty Tierra Roja cocktail before taking a look over the menu.

For starters we had prawn cracker’s with a sweet chilli sauce, the salted edamame beans and spring rolls, which set us up nicely for the main event!
I went for the sushi avocado rolls with steamed rice and grilled vegetables on the side.
Whilst Larissa went for the grilled wagyu beef sirloin with pakchoi, asparagus and onion ponzu with steamed rice on the side, which she tells me was out of this world.
As we chatted and soaked up the breathtaking views of the ocean and ambient music we were talked through the dessert menu by Hara who was our wonderful waitress all evening.
She suggested that if we have a sweet tooth we should go for the Mousse rose, compote litchi, sponge, sorbet raspberry with jasmine and the Black sesame Japanese praline, Valrhona chocolate Tulakalum 64% chocolate mousse, crunchy tuile sesame and rum Zacapa ice cream, to which we said YES!
It was incredible and so indulgent… but why not, we were on holiday! We would give this dining experience five stars and we can’t wait to come back soon. If you’re in Crete next summer, it’s certainly worth a visit.”Well, that’s it for this week, a different column from usual.
So now it’s TV time, and Jo O’Meara is the guest on the Halloween special of Saturday Night With Hayley Palmer this Saturday.
Jo gives us a live version of her new single too.
